The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program at S.V. Academy College is a four-year, semester-based undergraduate program under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tribhuvan University. This program is designed for students who are interested in social service, community development, human rights, social justice, counseling, welfare work, and development sectors.

Social work is not only about helping people in need; it is also a professional field that requires knowledge, skills, ethics, responsibility, and practical understanding of society. Program Structure

The BSW program is a four-year undergraduate degree divided into eight semesters. The total course structure includes theoretical study, practical learning, fieldwork, research, project work, and community-based activities.

In the first and second semesters, students study the basic principles, theories, and foundations of social work. These semesters help students understand society, human behavior, social problems, and the role of social workers.

In the following semesters, students learn different methods of social work, community organization, case work, group work, social research, communication, development studies, and practical field-based approaches. Students also get opportunities to work with communities and organizations, which helps them gain real-life experience.

The program helps students become confident, ethical, and practical social work professionals who can contribute to society through service, leadership, and positive change.


Specialization

The BSW program may include different areas of specialization and elective subjects according to the curriculum structure. Students can choose their area of interest with the guidance of academic counselors.

Students who have completed +2, PCL, or equivalent level from any board or institution recognized by Tribhuvan University can apply for the BSW program.

Applicants may need to fulfill the admission criteria set by Tribhuvan University and the college. Admission may include an entrance examination, interview, academic document verification, and other requirements as per the college and university rules.

To apply for the Bachelor of Social Work program, students should meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of +2, PCL, or equivalent level from a recognized board or institution.
  • Students from any stream or faculty can apply.
  • Students should have secured at least the minimum required marks or grade as prescribed by Tribhuvan University.
  • Applicants must meet the entrance and admission requirements of the university and college.
